I'm IHC for a small company and wear many hats, including commercial contracting. The commercial contracting work is very strategic, largely because my primary client is weak in this area so I have to fill in the gaps. As I look for new roles, what's a good way to convey that this was not typical work applying a playbook without putting down my client?

say you developed the legal and commercial strategy of the client from the ground up and drafted and negotiated the terms to mitigate risks

advised on business and legal risks, strategic legal partner to facilitate deal flow while mitigating legal risks. Partnered with and advised stakeholders on xyz issues, cmon this isnt hard

Ngl, if I was hiring manager I'd assume it was play book regardless of what you wrote. Commercial work is heavily commodized, and honestly, if your work wasn't play book, I would ask why. I don't want to hire a lawyer that doesn't try to streamline the process.

You Trump supporters just be posting to post. You don’t have no essence or substance to your viewpoints. You just be talking out of your rear ends. Then you all just lie and accept it. When someone else may lie or do something wrong the world on fire. You all point of view is so slavish. All you want to do keep American the same: to be unfair to a large portion of the population.
Now I get it, I basically just describe Trump, that’s why you all are Trump supporters. You all are one in the same.

Interviewed for a GS-15 (same agency but different office) and totally aced the interview with excellent answers. They know I’m a top performer with senior references. However I noticed there was an internal candidate who has been there for few years and interviewed that’s a veteran. I feel my chances just sank and want to gauge thoughts.

Additional Posts in In-House Counsel

I’m new to in-house and I begin in January. I wanted to basically better understand M&A and all the inner workings of expanding the scope of a business into new avenues. Does anyone recommend a book or two that may be relevant/helpful? On amazon, I see “The Art of M&A” and “Working With Contracts”. Thank you for any insight.

What law firm is your favorite for run of the mill employment issues in the US and internationally (India, Australia, UK, Germany, etc.). I primarily use Littler because they have a broad reach and decent rates but I’m wondering whether Bird & Bird, Ogletree, or some other firm has similar pricing and as good or better quality work. So, who are you using and are you happy?

Database for M&A precedents? Trying to look for a share purchase agreement from a 2021 acquisition. Didn’t find it on EDGAR. Is there anyway to make sure the document is not publicly available? How can I get access to this agreement?

NFW- I just had a good laugh. Earlier today I was on a video conference call reviewing a Private Label Agreement template with a larger company who wishes to brand label products we develop and manufacture. We came to a very one-sided provision and my sales VP stated “for this one, how can we just say ‘hell no’ ...nicely?” The other person on the call said we can replace the wording with just NFW (no f@$* way) and I said “I will have to add that to the defined terms section so it’s clear”

Have you had to change your start date after accepting an offer and how did it go? I told them I need to give 30 day notice and so I set my start date (incorrectly) assuming the background check and drug screen would take a few days to clear. However, the drug screen is now taking over a week and a half (still not finished, maybe tomorrow). Apparently things are much slower due to staffing issues and labs are backed up. It’s cutting into my 30 day notice significantly. Thoughts?

Out of curiosity and to test the market, I interviewed at a FAANG. Did not get the job, but found out TC was 350k, significantly higher than my TC 230k. I thought I was compensated fairly, but would love to see your thoughts.
