Might be worth keeping your Amex open until you’ve opened one in the UK. When I went the opposite way, having a UK Amex allowed me to open a US one, even though I had no US credit history.
Either way OP should convert the cards to non-fee ones rather than closing

Not sure why OP can't just keep his cards open and use them in the UK. They all have 0 foreign transaction fees. If OP is eligible for the Corporate Advantage Program, you get $150 off your Platinum.
