How has your work been affected by COVID-19? I’m a regulatory and transactional attorney at an AmLaw 100 firm. Everyone has been telling me that health care will be fine (continued in comments)

Same here, March was fine billable wise because of the first half, but now half my time is spent writing legal alerts. I’m still getting billable work, but it’s dwindling and making April look a little bleak.

like

Thanks for sharing! I’m in the same boat with my hours for March and April. I’m nervous to see how April will shake out.

(Cont’d) but our transactional work has noticeably slowed down and our regulatory clients are still hesitant to rack up a legal bill so they haven’t been sending much work. Any thoughts or comments on how you see the nature of health care work will change would be much appreciated.

Same here. Things have slowed down quite a bit. But everyone here still seems optimistic things will turn around.

Seeking feedback on GAP insurance. I had a family member who purchased a car in June or July. They were in an accident last week and it sounds like the car will be declared a total loss. Never dealt with this before, so wanted to ask if anyone has ever had an instance where the insurance didn't cover the outstanding balance of the loan and the insured then owed money? Car was $35k, $7k down, finance $28k. Gap insurance is through lender, not auto insurer.

I’d want to make sure the clients stay through the transition, and I don’t want to join a dying industry. Thoughts and advice?

Looking for a new mentor. Background- I previously practiced environmental law for some time and transitioned to health care about 4 years ago. Recently picked up pharmacy (in-house). I was interviewed for a Medicare/Medicaid role, but the hiring counsel thought I’d be great at pharmacy so placed me there. Was upfront about not knowing pharmacy one bit, but expressed my willingness to learn. Fast forward a year later- still struggling with Pharmacy knowledge. Looking for resources.. cont’d below

Any recommended resources for a mid-level lit associate looking to develop some skills in health care transactional work? I'm primarily a med-mal attorney and several clients have small opportunities on the MA side that I'd like to be able to assist with. The firm does not currently have a specific transactional healthcare practice group so I'd need to go out of the firm for mentorship in this area. For now, I'm just looking for good basic foundational resources.
