I think for a full buyout with food and drinks for about 50 guests, $5K might be a bit tight at places like Juniper or Eberly, it really depends on the day and package details. Are you planning on doing it on a weekend night? that will make a big difference. There's also the option of a partial buyout. Best to just tour the spots you're interested in and get their pricing models! Time of year will impact it too
A private banquet room at Maggiano’s for about 45 people was $5k for a work function I planned, and that place is arguably only a small step above Olive Garden. And since they have private rooms they were still able to run full service all night for regular diners.
I would expect a full buyout of an independent fine dining restaurant to cost much more, especially on a Friday or Saturday night when receptions are usually held.
For a place like Juniper or Eberly I think $5k is low. I planned a 30th bday for my fiancé and casual places like Lefty’s Bar and Lazarus Brewing had $5k minimums
No. I’ve tried to plan office parties (20 people for 2-4 hours not full buyout) and the minimum at comparable or less expensive places has been 3k
Why don’t you just go to a venue and do catering? Or book a private area at a restaurant?

Are you budgeting food, food and beverage? Most of the places I checked had a flat minimum and any hourly fees were for the bar. And that was usually a per head hourly fee. $5k feels light for a Sat night, but might not be for an off time. Think about the size of the place, their likely average tab per person or table and the number of turnovers a table might have during the time they are blocking. Add wait staff they may need to serve you. That is the math they are doing.
Also consider places with private rooms.
If your question is it reasonable for someone to charge you that much, the answer is yes. If you are asking can you get what you want for 5k, that is a possibly.
Juniper has an upstairs private dining room that accommodates 50 seated. So you don't need a restaurant buyout.
Most restaurants are not set up to put out food for 50 people at the same time. So your food will come out in batches - possibly having some people done eating before other people are served.
Yea this is how it was at one of my friends weddings. There were several different rooms that people were in and we all got our food at different times.

SM1. For this type of event it's usually set menu so they totally can serve everyone. Either buffet or seated. If they allow a buyout or do catering, they know how to staff for that. Certainly worth asking, but shouldn't be a problem.
