Im planning on taking a minority ownership stake over a small real estate venture (10% equity w/ voting rights). I obviously wont represent the entity but may weigh in on some legal issues / talk with outside counsel. There wont be any conflicts with my firm or clients. What are the ethical traps i need to be cognizant of?

The risk is the “weighing in” on legal issues and coordinating with outside counsel. Why do that? At some point, the line between acting as an owner and acting as the company’s lawyer will become blurry, and you’re not formally engaged as counsel.

Don’t do this.

There won’t be any conflicts… until there are.

Do not do it.

Lots. None end well.

Hello all. My company just went through an acquisition and the company did some restructuring of job titles. When they did this we were all advised the company would be making sure our jobs pay aligned with the national average.
My issue with this is my job title went from a Technical Support Supervisor to a Customer Success Team Lead. I have voiced my concerns with management but have been advised job titles are semantics. In my eyes this is a demotion, and will affect how much my job is worth.

I’m have a new theory about why juniors always feel like idiots and wanted to see if anyone else thinks this makes sense. I’m a third year, and am the most junior person all of my teams (generally me, a senior or two, and a partner or two), and I always feel like I’m messing something up. Is this just because I never get to work with other juniors and don’t see the mistakes they make, and that it’s relatively normal? And FWIW I went to HYS and I’ve had a clerkship so it’s not like I’m not smart

My question is - how can I tell if I'm doing well? More specifically, what common and avoidable mistakes (specific or general) do trainees make, and what attitude or actions impress you?
