I’m starting to get discouraged applying to Google. Took a while and several applications to get an interview, didn’t get it, applied, didn’t get it, took a few breaks from applying etc. but time is just adding up…Some roles I applied to as a stretch but amstill meeting qualifications. I am confident my resume for a role in this area that I’m aiming for is stronger this time around given my latest experience but how do I know if it just isn’t meant to be? I can really use some direction. My background, I've worked 2 years in strategy and am currently coming off an exhausting year 2 in investment banking. I didn't particularly enjoy either role and am not interested in moving over to the buy-side or some monotonous FP&A role. Currently scheduling “on sites” for a S&O role in CA. My referrer said they can hire as L5 or L6. Would like to land in the L6 bucket as I’ve heard 5 --> 6 is one of the more challenging promotions.

I’m looking for info on what the real difference is in responsibilities (manager vs IC, cross functional vs focused, etc) so I can focus on checking the L6 boxes during my interviews.

I’m also curious about whether this is something that I should just discuss with my recruiter directly?

Got a verbal confirmation for an offer from recruiter. Now she is negotiating my pay with the compensation team instead of me. I thought I had to do the negotiations with that team?
