I’m trying to understand employer preference in the region. The candidate is the same person of color and a Western passport. The only difference is whether they are overseas in the west or already working in the UAE.

Is it generally better to be based in the UAE when applying for roles? I’ve received an offer that’s a bit lower than expected and I’m wondering if accepting it to get into the market makes more sense than staying in a Western country and waiting for a better opportunity.

After the final interview, HR reached out and said they would like to extend an offer. HR gave a ball park of 135k - 145k base with about 15k in sign-on equity and 20k annual bonus.

After a couple of days, HR person came back with with 125k base and 20k annual bonus. No sign-on equity anymore. What should I do given that these numbers seem way lower than the initial range provided? HR claimed it’s because of “market conditions”.
