I have been trying to handle my similar unfortunate situation day by day. I am 40 years old and never been unemployed until January 2024. Almost 20 years of working each and every day that allowed me to buy a home, start a family, and live without too much worry about money. Unemployment does not pay enough to even cover my bills. I have applied to hundreds and hundreds of jobs. I have had 10 phone interviews, 3 virtual inverviews, and 1 in person interview. I am going to have to start selling my own possessions, including my house, instead of making sales in the industry I worked in. There are many more of us out here that are caught in this A.I. world of job applications and that is not how I remember applying for jobs. Job boards are like dating sites for jobs, except even more difficult to get noticed. We are all what the words we put in our profiles tell us we are, and not who we actually are. The A.I. generation of hiring is awful. I have started to reach out to friends and family for connections to help me get in on the inside of the walls and not be in the online world of nonsense. It is very frustrating and I am sorry you are having to deal with this. But my advice is to use any connection you have to work around having to use these methods of applying. That is by far the best way to get a position.
I'm 61 and have never been unemployed since I was 19. I was in dental since the beginning and last office was bought our by corporate, sadly it's becoming the norm. In the same boat as you, we'll be ok, keep getting our there and expand your mindset for a new career path if possible.
