I'm home grown and know I'm below market...always eases my mind when potential for layoffs arise. I don't try to get paid less for this reason, but it is nice.

After 6 years of temporary contracts and unstable situations, I find my dream job in my dream company. All of a sudden the world goes upside down and I get laid off. I start sending hundreds of applications, with only 2 recruiters getting back to me to say I don’t have experience for the job (this is how it works in Italy). Add a terrible health situation in my family and it seems there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Ugh. 😞

Looking for respectful ways to manage helping people in need of a job or seeking mentorship. I get 3-4 requests a week from mutual contacts asking if I can connect with a former colleague (always broad). Typically the ask is a 30-45 min call. I’ve been laid off, I know how hard a time it is, but equally am working long hours, parenting and want to reserve time for those I know. How do others manage these extra calls into their weeks?

Didn't have top grades, wasn't on law review. Worked at a midsize firm and was laid off in march-- have about 3 years experience in a hot practice area. Have been applying and had some interviews at larger shops but nothing has come of it. I'm still applying to roles (not many out there) in my area but coming to the realization based on number of larger firm rejection letter that I may not find a role. I am mainframe developer and having 8+ years of experience. I am planning to learn latest technology and few of them suggested to learn Oracle CPQ or Commerce cloud.

I have a query. Offer agreement states that termination can be initiated from either party by giving 3 months prior notice or equivalent pay. I want to know if the company can force me for an early release. Is it authentic to do that Or I should ask for 3 months complete notice period or equivalent pay.?
