Interviewed for an internal role. Only hiring manager responded to my thank you note. No response from his manager though. Am i reading too much into it or is it a bad sign?

For example for embedded software engineer role am I expect to code tree or graph problems especially if I belong to electronics domain?Or will they ask from traditional embedded domain only like SPI,I2C,UARY,RTOS,C etc

My old employer asked me if I wanted to come back to the company as a manager. The pay will likely be much better and the position holds more responsibility than I’ve had before, so overall it would be a step up. Can someone please for the love of god help me figure out how I can pay less income taxes? I only make 88k and I put the 12k standard deduction but I’m still getting taxed 27% of my paychecks! My sign on bonus (20 even) a few months ago was taxed nearly 45%! Excuse my ignorance, but am I doing something wrong? Will increasing deductions help or should I increase the withholdings?
