In general you can't negociate the base, signing maybe.

like

BCG does not negotiate salary. Maybe sign in bonus but have not seen it in the past. Base will be 236 and if at target TC will be 351 for 1st year. If top box, 442. That includes also retirement bonus as well.

like

Yes. Also that is based that you are on target on the review and also includes retirement bonus.

237 base

like

You think $237K + 40-80% bonus is low? Unless you mess everything up, your minimum TC would be ~$332K. Anyway, congratulations on the interview and good luck 🍀!

Sounds low. I was SM at Deloitte making 230 base. I’d imagine Principal at BCG would make more? Unless it is a lateral move …

like

The bonuses are significantly different. BCG actually gives 40% to average performers and 75% to top performers. And once you hit MDP (next level, 3 years), you’re at 7 figures. You could theoretically spend more time at SM at Deloitte than it would take someone to go from Analyst to Partner at BCG.

A close buddy interviewed as BCG principal and given 340. He was first year SM in Deloitte. He was in the Adobe space

Yes. We are almost the same #s except top box where bcg maybe 5-10% more depending on time in grade

Interviewing with a firm & they are scheduling interview rounds with long gaps. CV shortlisting - then 12 days to 1st interview - then 22 days to 2nd interview And then I have 2 more rounds. So I have 2 questions 1. Why is it so? Is this okay? Are they even interested or not? 2. I have in the meanwhile received an offer from other firm, when should I reveal this to the firm I am currently interviewing with? In final round (if I make it) or at the next round?

Has anyone ever tried negotiating for more vacation rather than a higher salary? I'm applying and interviewing for jobs right now. Some firms have unlimited PTO while others only give a few weeks. Personally, I'm much more interested in getting an additional week of vacation and would rather negotiate for that but usually only hear of people negotiating for salary. Has anyone had experience with this?

Hello! I have an inital call with HR coming up for a non-technical program manager role and I’m anticipating the expected total comp question. I’m coming from a non-tech background so I’m not sure what would be reasonable. Not sure what L level this role would be (it’s titled just Program Manager). Role would be in the Bay Area (currently live in DC). I’ve got 10 YOE, mostly in the government (3 in consulting). Any insight would be helpful!

I’ve always gotten the advice that when you want to switch jobs you should take interviews from places you’re not actually interested in, so you can understand your value in the market and have better negotiating power. I’m doing that rn - took a couple interviews to gauge my skills, my market value, and see what I need to work on for interviews that I actually care about. However, I feel really guilty about wasting their time and going all the way knowing I’ll just say no at the end. Wwyd?
