No idea about budgets, but I'm having the same kind of experience. Everything seems to be dragging out longer than ever before. Five months is beyond excessive though. I would not invest any mental energy hoping to land that role. If it's taking them almost half a year to make a decision, they are not serious about filling that position.
Rising Star
I do agree I feel like i have been looking for other opportunities and have not had success at all
Yes, budgets are even smaller than they have been. You have to find a place where that isn’t the case. Even if you get in after waiting for that long, how bad do you think it is there? Over 5 months to bring somebody in is a red flag.
I think corporate makes money off short staffing. As long as they have an ad out that says we're looking they can always say, "well we tried to fill the position but So and So didn't get hired due to..." And then blame a shortage.
So it's basically an issue of pushing back against the requests for fair pay and better labor conditions by increasing workload and shorting patients.
Paying You time and a half to work short is saving 1/2 of hiring someone.
Yep. I've been trying to transition into a non-clinical RN role and literally can't get past recruiter screening. I don't want to low ball myself too much and I've even taken off MSN and DNP degrees along with my APRN licenses on some apps just to avoid the "over-qualification" trap. 8 years of clinical experience and doors are shut..sigh
Same here. I’m transitioning from MT to a low impact job as fromt desk/reception job in the medical field. I know this sounds silly but even ChatGPT says it’s just slow and it takes awhile to get even into it. I thought it was just me. I even looked up where employers now are also ghosting people. I’m still applying to get a hit.
I’ve noticed as well.
Yes I had an interview 2 weeks ago with a company that outsources I was supposed to get a call from a recruiter and that call never came so I called the following week and I asked if anyone was going to be in touch with me they've had basically hired and wanted me to onboarding me
No I was supposed to but I'm being left hanging now it's so frustrating I'm almost ready to give up on this position and move on
No, vet med is always short staffed and if you don’t get hired within a week of your interview (often usually you find out in less than 24hrs) then you didn’t get the job lol. I always recommend this field to people desperate for work but they always say no because of how little we get paid to do more work 😅
