Have looked into them as well. Pay is low which discourages me from applying 🙁
Well shit 😳
Yes, equity is still part of the compensation package and hence why base comp is lower than market. People join Flexport to work on interesting challenges, not for the compensation and this has been true since day 1. We don't win folks on comp, especially not in the Bay Area market. New folks can still get some upside before we IPO. We've majorly de-risked the company at this point. It's hard to think that after 8 years you can join a unicorn startup and exit with life-changing equity. You should join to help us execute on our future growth plans but we've already done all the hard work building the foundation and getting the company to where it is today. You'll get something but not as much if you had joined us when we were still small. I've been at Flexport for 4 years. I have equity in the form of ISOs and RSUs. I took a risk, aka paycut, in base because I believed in the mission of the company and I believe we can achieve it. If you care more about the base comp then this is not the place for you. If you care about solving interesting challenges and maybe being rewarded for that later, then you might join Flexport because it will be a fun ride. If you're interested, I urge you to apply to learn more about us and then you can make a decision if this is worth the risk for you. Otherwise, if comp is a hard deal breaker then you should not consider Flexport.
Is equity part of comp?
I heard base pay barely breaks six figure. Bonus is like 30%. However... who knows if this is the next Amazon in the making...?
Can guarantee it’s not the next Amazon in the making. They don’t even do anything special. They make u think the value is in their platform - then u talk to employees and 90% of the work is still done manually just like any other logistics company. Totally dumb
