Consulting scams are either:
“Deloitte system caused harm because it doesn’t work”
Or
“McKinsey advice caused harm and led to millions of deaths because it worked exactly as intended”
Yea the worlds largest professional services firm scammed the government lol which firm you at Kpmg?
I don’t think this is Deloitte intentionally creating these problems. I think it’s an artifact of the way statements of work and budgets are decided. If the client tells you to remove XYZ set of features as out of budget, but the client doesn’t fully understand the implications in terms of performance, then they are at least partly if not fully to blame for forcing us to build such suboptimal systems.
Yes I agree, but it’s also our duty to raise the risk and not look past it. Then only we are not blame if they still choose to go down the wrong riskier path.
Been on to many self managed projects where a risk not fully stated clearly
This is largely misleading.
The states had already lost billions of dollars towards fraud. Deloitte prevented much more than what was lost.

It’s always one of two firms😂😂😂

McK or D
We had almost no antifraud initiatives. States during COVID wouldn’t allow fraud investigation and were just trying to get money sent out if documentation was provided. I pushed for and helped roll out a fraud system for one of the states we administered a system for and caught as much fraud as the state would allow us to. They were very strict with being entirely sure of fraud before reporting it to local authorities.
We were mostly asked to be program administrators and were subject to the state’s desires or avoidance of fraud related issues.
We all out here scamming anyway
At least they got the press

Deloitte is scamming anyone willing to be scammed
State governments, it’s like stealing candy from a baby 🤣 McK was definitely in on the covid action

Consulting is a scam, is it not?

Well, for gov it’s a lot of borrowed manpower and expertise that they can’t afford to keep on the books. So not really but at that point it’s not really “consulting”
I’m not defending Deloitte but the amount of reprogramming the federal govt did with ARPA was astonishing.
I can’t imagine it was better at the state level.

All other gov faces the same challenges as federal
lol. Have you ever worked for government or known anyone who does.
I know people who were on projects for 7 years with constant issues because the government subagencies they worked with saw their implementation project as a way to offload their worst performers. I have friends who tell me they sell newest technology every year with no issues to government branches that sit in warehouses unused so that branch can keep their budget intact. There was a story a few years ago that TSA spent 400k on a random arrow generator to direct traffic in security lines that a Youtuber coded live in 15 minutes.
People keep complaining about who should pay more in taxes when the real question is why no one cares that all of this tax money is wasted.

How many frauds were prevented through the system? How much is government clients’ fault? What are the reconciliatory terms and actions moving forward? How do the government clients and Deloitte respond to the billions who slipped through the cracks and got away with fraud? How were the fraudsters discovered?
Probably some spreed sheet that does a vlookup on tax ID numbers. 😂

I did a little fraud prediction for GM Financial and Ford Motor Credit back in the day. Fraud is hard to spot, because anyone who is good at fraud makes the transactions look legitimate. They either mix them in with valid transactions, or establish a pattern of behavior to make transactions less noticeable for any algorithm to notice.
Don’t be in the anti-fraud business. It’s never good enough for your client. They’re always going to feel like you could have done better.
Steve Forbes is too old he can’t spell McKinsey anymore!
Don’t know all the details, but yikes
It’s not Deloitte to blame. It’s the government which gave free money freely.
If Deloitte knew it was a nuclear dumpster fire from the start, why even take on the work?
Deloitte is a much larger organization…of course you have a larger revenue. That’s just basic math. You’re conveniently focusing one one point of comparison, which is purely based on the size of each respective firm, and completely disregarding the fact Deloitte falls short in all other categories. Many people view Glassdoor as one of several credible sources. Get a clue.
As someone who worked on these type of projects it’s not like people are actively scheming to create these scenarios lol. It really boils down to three things: 1) rushed timelines due to pressure from clients 2) client taking out key components due to budget constraints and 3) Deloitte’s implementation model which uses third rate subcontractors rather than investing in building out a serious tech capability and hiring proper engineers.
They are, it’s sort of in early stages. Big pushes in cloud/tech to standardize the products we offer and deliver. Hard to keep consistent but we’re working on it
Wouldn’t call it scamming but taking advantage? Yes
