You can't fight your own stupidity
Keep calling back until you get the answer you want. Usually works. Explain the bereavement
I agree with P2. Also, work your way up customer service food chain to a supervisor. Be very polite.
Also, consider contesting charge with cc company, as they might have some sway.
I'd try different channels (call multiple times to speak to different people, install twitter and reach out thru there, etc.)
Call your credit card company? See if there is anything they can do? Not sure it'll work just throwing some ideas. Hope you get it all sorted out!
Can't you cancel within 24 hours of booking?
Was buying ticket for mother-in-law in between meetings. She just lost her sister. Just some context...not that changes much but hoping those quick to call me to stupid can maybe chill a little. I'm already fuming over my mistake and family stress.
P1...only of it's 7 or more days.
E2, Chase Sapphire.
Called Chase about it and they asked me too call back on Monday after the pending charge has settled. Will try.

hmmm i believe the dot has rules. take a look and file a complaint. tell them you will file a dot consumer complaint
Did you book with amex? I think you have some benefit there
Did she just lose her sister? Is this the reason she's going? Can you pull in bereavement fare / reason for travel ?
I tried to ask for supervisor. Didn't work.
Oh and I don't use Twitter.
Within 7 days DOT refund rules no longer apply, I think you might have to pay
24 hour cancel if you booked in the us

Do you have 24 hour cancellation policy?
