Favorite office chair?
Hello RSM coworkers! I am thrilled to be moving to RSM into a Scheduler roll. I just found out yesterday and want to be as prepared as possible in the next steps.
So here are my questions.
How long does the background study take? I'm guessing admin staff have a study that is faster and less complicated than someone in Tax ect.
When training at home what did you need that wasn't supplied by RSM? My home office is well stocked but I want to be as prepared as possible.
Thanks in advance!

YES! 1000% yes. Recently purchased the Herman Miller Aeron - was an investment, but the best purchase I’ve made. I’m sitting in this chair on zoom for 10 hours a day - and my back does not hurt. Your body will thank you.
What kind of horse tho

Anyone suffering from back problems would be happy to show you the medical costs. It’s more common than people think. Don’t risk your spine health. If your current chair feels uncomfortable, change it. If you can’t afford it, walk around if you’re able to during conference calls.
I’m looking at spending up to $2k on the X-chair my $200 leather chair from Sams just doesn’t offer the neck support and comfort needed anymore from long meetings. Also bought laptop stand to elevate and reduce strain.

Yes it’s worth it.
Herman Millers and Steele case are fantastic. I have an X-chair that’s very, very good for about half the price.
The lower end stuff will be hit or miss on quality.
Yes I have a steelcase leap that’s amazing

Herman Miller Aeron is high quality. I sent mine back because it didn’t work for my body so I’m going with the Herman Miller Embody. I think it’s definitely worth it to treat your body right
For example, a Herman Miller or a chair similar to it? Is it worth shelling out the money for it?

Yep. My wife is 100% WFH so we got her a Herman Miller. Really no reason not to if that's what you're going to spend most of your day in. I do recommend you go to the store to try and decide which version first though.

I mean I use my frat house style dining room style chair lol

Yes, but you don’t need to shell out tons of $$$!! My fam has had a good one from Staples for def < $150 (I’m pretty sure it was <100 but can’t confirm) and it has lasted us over 4 years at this point.

Nah
Arron is awesome. Also Humanscale Freedom chair, which I have now.
Yes, buy a Herman Miller Aeron. Can find good deals on them used but even at full price totally worth it. I never have any pain from sitting in mine for hours on end.
Yes, worth it. I bought a Steelcase Gesture before the pandemic and it’s been great for the WFH era. You can use the fitness subsidy for office chairs (plus good corp discount for Steelcase) as well if at Deloitte.
Yep, laptop stand plus chair + ergo keyboard has made a huge difference for my posture and comfort
