Is it okay to ask why you weren’t selected?

I recently made it to the final round for a role that I was genuinely excited about but didn’t get the offer. I debated whether to ask for feedback or simply move on. Has anyone found post-interview feedback to be genuinely helpful? From a recruiter’s perspective, is it viewed positively when candidates ask, or is there usually little value in doing so?

Some (most?) employers have a policy of not giving candidates rationale for their decision because they’re afraid of opening themselves up to a claim if they say the wrong thing or it is misconstrued. Best policy to avoid potential exposure is to just say no.

Thanks, good to know

I don’t see any reason why you can’t ask. I’d go to the person on the interview schedule that you had the best report with.

Got it, thanks!

If you applied online and haven’t heard back in 10 days is it ok to check back or wait 2 full weeks or longer?

These days it takes very long for employers to get back

I actually sent the email asking them but got a very polite response not helpful

Hi everyone! First time posting here. I am in a good sales role at my current company but it’s my first solid AE role in the tech industry. I am interested in exploring other opportunities as I know there are a lot out there, but is anyone else worried about the current economic state? I’m worried that if I find a new position for a new company and the economy going to sh** that I am worried about job security. Anyone else feel this way?

I have an offer for $130k for a senior attorney position in a boutique L&E firm. Also have a recruiter who thinks she can get me into another for $150-170k. Both are more than I’ve ever made (Denver, 17 yrs of experience but completely different practice areas). Any tips for countering the $130k offer for more using the other potential offer while not risking a complete withdrawal of the current offer?
