Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

Unless you signed a non-compete agreement, you’re free to work wherever you want for whomever you want.
And the holding company that owns both agencies is also free to tell those agencies they’re not allowed to poach people from within the network and they’re free to inform OP’s current agency about it.
A lot of holding companies make this difficult.

You can, but the candidate has to be the one to initiate the conversation. From experience, I was working at an Omnicom shop and was looking for a creative partner a while back. I knew of someone (but didn’t know then personally) who I thought would be perfect. She worked at another Omnicom shop. I told our recruiter and the recruiter told me that the candidate had to initiate the contact because of their non poaching policies. So if she inquired or applied, it would be fine, but our recruiter couldn’t reach out.
I interviewed with one IPG agency while working with another. They said they’d have to inform the other agency when they made an offer. Nobody at the agency I interviewed at seemed to care.
Publicis definitely doesn’t allow that. There’s a strict no poaching policy.
