Is it reasonable to ask for commuter benefits when the salary is slightly below what I was hoping for? The company is downtown, and between parking and high gas prices, I'm looking at some major out-of-pocket costs every month. I don't want to over-negotiate, but the commute expenses would eat into an already low offer pretty quickly. How would you handle this ask?

You can always ask. The worst response is no,and that's better than not exploring an option.

Normally I would consider that part of the job and I would imagine most companies factor that into the salary. You could negotiate the salary and give that as a reason in addition to any other factors. But I doubt a company is going to say your salary is 70k plus 2 k because you have to commute.

I've worked at a few offices and downtown and never got any commuter benefit, but some did help pay the parking garage fee. Maybe ask if they could offer a stipend of half of the parking fee. If they didn't offer it, it is probably not likely to happen, but never hurts to ask.

Either they provide commuting benefits to all or you won’t get any. Have you asked? When I worked downtown we all got subsidized parking. It was very inexpensive for LA parking. Gas is your expense. Go hybrid

You can ask or try to negotiate some kind of commuter benefit.

Hi all,

I would like to hear out your opinions on internal salary negotiations at the back of promotion.

I'm a Business Analyst with over 10 years experience, been in the same company for the whole time, Currently, I'm below Average Industry standards by approx. 10% for my (current) role.

I have applied for internal job which is effectively one level above, meaning it would be a promotion.

I got the job, awaiting offer.

I received a job offer from company A and am currently negotiating salary. I have an interview with company B next week and know that they offer a higher base pay. There’s no guarantee that I will be offered a job at company B but my gut is telling me that company B would be a better fit for me. Should I accept the offer from company A, continue interview process with company B and then rescind my offer with company A if company B offers me a job? Will I be burning bridges?

Anybody know salary range for VP Operations for GS in SLC?

I was approached on LinkedIn for an early career recruiting role in DFW, TX. I don't have direct experience, but I have the university experience/connections from working in career services. This is the first time I've considered work outside of higher education. I said my salary expectations are minimum $90k and that didn't seem to be an issue. Am I asking too little, too much? How can I know I'm getting the best salary and not just settling at the low end of the range?

I’m located in NY so the recruiter said he would try to get me more. Ultimately he came back at 90K which is a bit inline with that I was seeing on Glassdoor but approx looks like I may leave 10-12K on the table. I accepted already but may get an offer from another HR company in account management around 90-100K. Need advice

I received an offer for a role that is a lot more money than I thought but I still want to negotiate and see how much more money I can get. What can I say if the salary is already above average for the role in the market and city I live in?
