I have heard Indians do that as some kind of ceremony.
I've read that it's recommended you avoid using clippers on a baby's head. My youngest is now 7 though, so I haven't had to stay plugged in to the latest parenting do/do not.
No you shouldn’t do that. It’s hard on babies skin and they need the hair besides the hat for protection and warmth
What?
Why?
It’s an Indian thing. Supposed to make the hair grow back better. But it’s an old wives tale. I did not do it for my daughter.
It's an Indian and a South American thing.. more like age-old cultural thing. It really is down to choices
Yea I heard its for hair growth and wanted to see if someone else did it?
I don’t think there’s any evidence to suggest shaving or cutting hair makes it grow in thicker. I never did it and all of my kids have beautiful hair. If we’re to do this at all - and I wouldn’t - it would be a tiny trim with scissors. No way would I shear them like a sheep 🐑
A doctor friend of mine did it (not indian) and said it helps hair grow better. I don’t have the guts to do it so I let nature run its course
Never even heard of this before!
Never heard of the practice and didn’t do it. Both my son (7yrs) and daughter (2yrs) both have thick heads of hair. Son’s is straight and daughter’s is curly, in fact when it is wet in a bath, her hair is almost down to her butt, and when it is dry, her hair is only about shoulder length
I believe they did that to celebrate the kid survived a year or whatever duration in an era with high infant mortality; some give the kid their name at this time as well... I’m Indian .. just my theory..
