Is it uncouth to ask for feedback from an interviewer or recruiting coordinator at a firm that rejected me?
I’m a COA clerk with good grades from HYS and have gotten several callbacks (5+) at biglaw firms but little success with offers. I’m somewhat hamstrung by my lack of biglaw experience—I did govt internships during law school and spent the year right after law school in a policy role. But I just have a sense that I’m batting well below average in callbacks and would love to know why.

I’m chatting with a partner next week about other offers I have from similar top tier firms and whether my current firm can match the signing bonus that I have been offered. I would stay at my current firm if they offer me the same. What is the best way to bring this up in a way that’s most effective and non-offensive?

How many matters is typical for one associate to handle (BL lit)? I know it is group-specific, but just trying to get a general idea. I’m a 2nd year and I am the only associate staffed on about 30 cases-meaning I keep track of all deadlines, do all day to day assignments, keep on top of following up with client/OC, and all research/drafting. Partners handle deps/court but that is about it. Is this a normal case load to be responsible for as a jr? I being dramatic by thinking this is too much?

Partners: I’m a sr. associate managing multiple cases without a whole lot of oversight. A few of the cases I am managing are very large, very fast, and very contentious. I try to be as immersed in the details as I can, but can’t know everything. I rely on others to give me accurate and actionable facts. Lately, the actions I have been taking have been based on wrong, inaccurate, or incomplete info. I then get reamed in M&Cs and look like an idiot. [Cont. in comments]

Question for funds folks, since no one is around to answer any questions and I can't seem to find this answer anywhere. Why can't a placement agent combine or integrate the offering of interests in the sponsor's fund with the contemporaneous offering of interests in another fund? Is it based on reputational risk or from a sales perspective in case someone rejects both funds, any other issues? Thanks!
