Yes, I was in my 30s when getting my license and my salary has quadrupled since then. In my mid 40s now and don’t regret it.
I couldn’t be in my current role without the license. I would have been stuck at senior. If you’re going to do any time in public accounting, it’s worth getting the license. I used Becker to study and thought it was a great prep tool but that was years ago.
I graduated from college age 40, got my CPA age 41 - yes it’s worth it if you’re in public accounting. Your promotions are limited without it.
BC1 - I agree with M2 - I suggest a regional firm or smaller firm. You will have 2 busy seasons, but should work more normal hours in between and will actually be able to take time off. I found my life experiences were very helpful and clients respected my maturity.
Hey professionals, I need help regarding CPA. So far I have passed BEC and FAR but failed AUD and REG with 67 each. Credits for passed exams will expire at end of October. Currently studying Reg to retake next week. It’s been my dream and goal to become CPA. I have spent way too many years studying for CPA. I’m in now or never situation. Should I consider quitting my job to knock out these 2 exams before others expire? With a small gap on resume, it wouldn’t bite me getting a job right? I will be CPA by then. Thanks for the advice in advance.
If you’re at a public firm, you can take a month or two sabbatical for the exam. You’ll get paid 20% of your salary and you are not allowed to log into your pc during that time. Win win win for your scenario: study and focus on exams, you’re paid, you have job security and no gap in your resume
Can your job give you a break? Maybe you log off 3-4 hours earlier every work day to study.
