Hi Fishes, Any senior staff engineer here, role associate project manager at Nagarro. I would like to know more details about project allocation and work you do. I recently got selected as one. I can see a lot of heat from developers against nagarro here but what about mid level management such as associate project manager!??
TIA

Bain & Company Hi all, I am interested in making the move to the Middle East, however starting from august/September. What do you think are the prospects for the future in the region? Do you envisage a hiring freeze or are companies still going strong? Thanks!McKinsey & Company Boston Consulting Group Kearney Bain & Company

It’s when you check all boxes for EM, but need to be vibe checked on the job

It depends on the geography
No it’s not a real position, it’s a role in client engagements. If people use it on LinkedIn it’s likely they didn’t make the EM promotion and they’re trying to inflate their actual role. Any tenured consultant (~2nd year Associate or Senior BA) will have to go through a period where you “step up” to prove your abilities as a manager in a real setting, but with clear guardrails and a limited scope. JEM roles are strictly an internal staffing thing and using it as a formal title on LinkedIn is about as cringe as a med school dropout calling themselves “junior doctor”
You can be staffed as Jr EM on a project. However, your official title at McK won’t be Jr EM. So a few people change on LinkedIn to demonstrate this ‘progression’.
Jr EM outside the US is someone who is effectively staffed as EM on a project but doesn’t have the official EM title yet.
Jr EM in the US is just another associate who is ‘officially’ helping coach someone, but is not the project manager, pretty useless title thing.
It’s not an official title per se but official enough so that it is included in our internal profiles

I’m a junior CEO. Oh I thought we were all just making up titles now.
Many profiles with things like Senior Consultant / Jr Engagement Manager
That’s fine, it’s not that deep..
It’s not a real position title but it’s not a crime either…
Most people that I’ve seen doing this are looking for an exit and what to show ‘some’ career progression. But recruiters know it’s not a real promotion
McK makes you manage projects for 8-12 months before officially making you a manager. Simply a way for people to reflect what they’re actually doing at work but deliberately not getting paid for. In the US, more of an unwritten/bespoken thing bc it allows the firm to be more subjective on promotions (i.e. tell people they don’t meet “standards” no two people at the Firm will describe the same way). In other countries, it’s an official staffing position bc, due to better labor laws, it’s illegal for people to do things not in their job description
Yes, but kind of optional. Back in the day I JEMed while being staffed as a BA on the WIP. Wouldn’t happen in other regions, where JEM is basically EMing (the senior EMs on those projects usually split time)
