Is there a supposed best time to look for houses to buy? My wife and I together have saved up 50K to put towards our first home, but we're pretty clueless about how things work in the real estate world. We want to try and do it on our own, but if it gets too tricky, we'll get a realtor. Any advice for us first-time homebuyers?

Generally, late spring and summer see the most homes listed so there’s more choice, but also more competition. If you want a better deal and less bidding wars, try shopping in late fall or winter when things usually slow down, though selection might be smaller.

👉Just ask for it. Really, you would be surprised. Might be easier to switch to a new company and ask. I did that 3 years into my career.
