I would say that most financial positions are salary based.

Finance Analyst, accountant, risk analytics, risk, middle office, etc.

Financial advisors seem to be one of the only finance jobs that doesn't have a base. Most front office finance jobs are salaried

How do you define the difference between Base and Salary?

If you're planning on a career change, just do some research on companies you think you'd like to work for and apply for jobs. If you've got some transferable skills it's conceivable you could find something that would get you in the door and pay a salary. Then it's a matter of learning and moving into a role you'd want.

Based on your profile, you aren't qualified to get a role that is commissioned.
Interior Design has almost zero crossover with anything finance. You need to try to find an analyst 1 or analyst trainee position with Goldman, JP or similar.
If you're in the Dallas Area, Fidelity has a big office in Southlake or Trophy Club where they have their phone reps. That is a good place to start.
I have a friend who started there approximately ten years ago, and then took an advisor role at JPMC. He is making ~350/year now.

Try Morgan Stanley, they are usually always hiring.

Your chances of being a stock trader close to zero. Perhaps you could start in a back office role, learn the ropes for few years.

Additional Posts in Jobs in Finance

I am so beyond ready to leave my current job, but can’t yet, since bonuses are paid out in January. 😬

In the meantime, I’ve applied to a lot of similar roles (slightly higher) but have not heard - good or bad - from any. Is it common for companies to slow down hiring in December because of Q4 rush, people on holiday, etc.?

Is there such things as FP&A positions in Big 4? If so, are there better times to make the change than others (I.e. at senior vs manager)? I’m currently in FP&A and looking to work at a Big 4, or another company that offers the ability to move abroad. My current company and many others I know about do not offer the mobility to do so until much later, which is not what I want. Thank you.
