There are always zoom meetings, if you’re in a pinch. Or I’ve started going to daily (well, most days) 7am meetings. It’s an awesome way to start the day and I get the meeting in before my schedule gets out of control.
I’ve been the most solid in sobriety when I have at least three meetings that I go to every week. It helps with fellowship, getting to know the same group more deeply and comfortably, then one to three more that I rotate based on my schedule. This core three I put on my schedule and block my calendar. They’re a non flexible option (all were 8 pm meetings or weekend meetings). Nobody ever balked. I think the other suggestion about 7am meetings is a good one too. If I’m on a deadline I still make the night meeting and just work an hour later. It’s worth it. Side note: I’ve also found it helpful to make sure my meetings aren’t all the same format. I mix speaker/book study/open share and also stag/coed. I do live where there’s lots of meetings tho. You can DM me if you ever want to talk about the particulars of being an ad creative/alcoholic. Our jobs (I’ve found) can be especially triggering. But I’ve got almost 4 years and damn I wish I’d done it a decade sooner
It only takes two people to have a meeting. Call up someone you have met in a meeting, talk about sobriety or maybe read a couple of pages out of the big book and discuss.
Make time….🤷🏿♀️❤️
Freelance AD, I feel. Going to meetings is what has helped me the most during my busy times so far(new to the industry). Because I need to constantly get humble, meetings help me by reminding me I’m not alone in this and that I don’t have all the answers. I’m currently trying to take it back to how I built my foundation in early sobriety. Going to at least 3 meetings a week, calling my sponsor once a week(he’s busy sponsoring other new guys so we agreed on this), and helping in service work.
