I mean, my days never actually end earlier 🤣
Who are all these morning people and how do they exist? 🤢
^ I wake up at 9… and work out then start wfh 🤣🤣
Are you a morning person? Do you have kids to get to school? Will your days actually end earlier?
I am naturally a night owl and HATE mornings, but I don’t mind it when I’m doing west coast EST hours. It shifted my life so that all of work happens, then all of life, as opposed to an hour or two in the morning then scrambling for dinner at night, and then no time for anything meaningful so fine, watch some Netflix. I feel like I actually have a balance for the first time…ever, probably.
Im in a sunny part of California, so I just started letting daylight guide my life more. I think I would have a LOT harder time in Seattle or something.
Working late can be a thing if you’re not careful. It can be easy to just keep rolling. But even at times when I’ve had to because of pitches, I did still feel more human cause it was light out.
I will note I don’t have children, and I do know that it’s tougher for my colleagues who do, particularly mornings.
I did it for a while and loved it. I’m definitely not a morning person so it takes a second to get used to, but after doing it for a couple weeks you get into the rhythm of things. Ending your day around 3pm is magical. Feels like you can actually make the most of your time off after work
Theoretically, your days start 3 hours earlier and end 3 hours earlier.
I have a few coworkers remote and they seem to love it. Sometimes early meetings are painful but they get tons of sunlight after work is over and tell me it’s like having two days in one 🤷🏻♂️
I’m one hour behind my HQ and that has been really nice too.

Depends if you're high up enough to call the shots. Creatives who have to deliver work, their days start early and end late. Do you have Fortress-of-Solitude-level boundaries?
If you're an early morning person, I would say yes. One of our account people is in CA, (company is in CST) and she loves it but 7am meetings also don't phase her.
Only if you are a morning person and can set firm boundaries. I personally love it, and was never a morning person on the east coast. I love having longer evenings free now that I'm a parent. I plan to keep my office hours set to the time zone I'm working with, and so far EST has been the best work life balance.

I am a morning person so I love it. I feel like I have most of the day to myself.
I had a partner who moved to the West Coast. Our client was based in the UK. Agency based in NYC. This meant regular 6am meetings for her and regular “after hours” emails for me from her. Pick-up time for her kids were right as our NYC day was ending so I had to regularly fend off anxious account people for her. She wound up going to our CD to say I wasn’t being a “team player” for not wanting to meet at 7pm every day. She was unceremoniously “transferred.” It was horrible for everyone involved.
I would take the temp of the client, where the client is located, and where most of the team is located. In strategy you’re probably fine.
That depends completely on what you prefer. Some like it, others don't.
Worth it? It is just part of my role. It is expected so I do it. I guess it’s worth it because I want to keep my job :)

The other way around it more difficult. I find at 6:30, I want to relax, eat and put a cold beer in my hand, but no it’s 4pm in the time zone where the office is. Early morning start it way better. Cold by by 5:30 now.
It depends on the individuals situations During the pandemic when my kiddo was home from school it worked well for me. But once he went back to school it was prime working hours for east coasters and I would be juggling on a call and trying to get him ready. And also I was just pretty groggy/not ready to be on conf call at 6:30/7 am. But the upside if being done by 3pm was pretty rad (although didn’t always happen but I tried to set clear boundaries ). I now work in my time zone and my quality of life has already improved.
I’m east coast based but whenever I go to LA for productions, after the first few days of adjustment, I LOVE it on production down days. Roll out early, end by afternoon, wind down.
