Exactly. That’s what they rejected me for - solely based on my current job title. Completely ignored my degree and previous experience/portfolio. Needless to say I probably dodged a bullet

Probably right in dodging a bullet. That said, how are you positioning yourself? Are you showing a reel or portfolio? If not, maybe that’s why.
I always share a portfolio link and I think I do a pretty good job detailing both my creative and production experience in my cover letter (without beating them over the head with it.) I guess it’s a good thing I didn’t waste my time but I’m still very surprised that an agency would have that approach to hiring...
