I know Liver King is out there but my roommate has been living by his “9 ancestral tenets” and it basically changed his life. Anyone else that follows something similar seen benefits? Seems like he’s rooted on well being and staying connected with the world around you. Even if you think he’s weird his YouTube video is well put together.

LinkedIn isn’t great for remote jobs anymore, but sites like We Work Remotely, Remote.co, and FlexJobs still have solid listings. It takes some digging, but they’re out there
It’s so frustrating that we still have to prove our commitment based on location. Flexibility is crucial, and companies that don’t get that are missing out. For remote or hybrid roles, I’ve found some legit opportunities on sites like We Work Remotely and FlexJobs. Have you had luck with any others?
Best thing I’ve done is find the companies that still offer or value remote work and watch their postings like a hawk. Many companies are trying to make sure people that wfh remember that they are out of sight and out of mind, however these aren’t the companies that you want to align with if you are serious about any kind of flexibility in the long run.

I keep seeing the argument that companies will lose talent when they remove flexibility but I wonder how true it is and how valuable the talent is compared to the strain on the other employees. Companies must not actually see the employees as valuable as the employees see themselves, which suggests a mismatch in the market.
I am supportive of flexible work arrangements but I never benefit from them as much as women with children do, and they can cause a sort of resentment when you see people benefiting from policies that you can’t. I think that’s part of why there’s a shift away from the flexibility of remote work. For example, I have friends who often have to travel for work conferences or stay late for events because they have women with children on their teams who “can’t” do it. Women with children often take offense when this is pointed out and talk about child rearing stress but that isn’t necessarily a valid excuse to me for performance in the workplace and other employees having to pick up slack. I’ve worked in majority women law firms with amazing benefits and flexibility but it was difficult to move work along unfortunately.
Some jobs have always been remote before covid and remain so now. If you want a remote job, I suggest you move into a field where it's assumed or expected to be remote. A natural part of the job and culture around that job. Those jobs exist in IT (cyber, cloud, etc. ) and other industries. Other jobs simply do not work well in remote environments, which is okay. I suggest folk take a holistic look at jobs, careers, and business. People who prefer to charter their own destinies and set their own rules work for themselves.
Its not just women who want flexibility and remote roles, men are looking for them too. The truth is nobody wanted to go back to the office and everyone is looking for remote because of the work life balance that it provides. I definitely don't seem as many remote or hybrid roles as there once was.
