The secret is to not throw around your book but be intentional about what and where you're looking. This only works with a great recruiter who puts you on the table of the best CCOs and makes them look at your stuff. But that means your book must have outstanding pieces in it.

Most the jobs posted are up for months, or are posted out of legal compliance to importing a visa worker.
Everyone hires friends or direct referrals
How many of those were you referred by someone inside the company?
Relationships are surface at best on both ends. People I’ve worked with don’t really reciprocate when trying to keep in touch.

You are missing life-ruining dirt on a C-suite exec.
OP you will likely have to apply for a lot more than 30 jobs to land something. I have friends who have applied to over 500 jobs and are still having trouble landing something.
Reach out to the in-house recruiters when a job is posted. Explain why you’re a perfect fit for yhe job. There’s one talent acquisition guy I know at one of the holding companies who has been helpful at not wasting my time at least. “That position was filled internally,” “that agency just had a hiring freeze,” etc.
