I’ve been a self-taught front-end developer for 3 years, doing mostly freelance and small agency projects, but I don’t have a CS degree, and my job history is a bit patchy (a mix of contract work and side gigs). I’m trying to land my first full-time role at a product company. When you look at a candidate like me, what specifically makes you comfortable recommending them to a hiring manager?

Does industry have billable hours? At the big 4, we are required to work a certain number of hours each week and if we spend too much time on anything we are questioned on why it took so long. Is that a thing when you go in industry?

- 2 years at company 1 (resigned to move back to home country)
