I’ve been in my current in house role for 6.5 years now and enjoy the work, team, and the compensation was not the best but ok. And I’ve seen most of the team members switched jobs in the past 2-3 years so I am the most tenured person in my team now. The challenge is that I’m not sure I’m learning as much as I used to. I am recently thinking about other opportunities but hesitant. How do you know when you’ve found a great long-term fit versus when you’re becoming too comfortable?

I know. I just want to know how people think and I can get inspired by others wisdom in the same situation

In today’s job market you should be switching jobs every 2-3 years or you’re leaving money and experience on the table.

like

No.

Its clear learning is the priority, you like the challenge. You may have gotten comfortable. Switch it up. I moved in house just over a year ago and now learning nothing and boss is insecure since i know more. I am looking elsewhere and possibly even back to private practice.

Thanks for sharing your experience. The issue with in house is that there is not much upward mobility. For people who outgrow the role, most of the time, their only way to continue grow is switch jobs

I interviewed at a law firm and had my final round last Friday. The Tuesday afterward, I got a call from the recruiter saying the firm won’t have a decision for another week. I believe they’re interviewing other candidates. Does that make me second or third choice? And does the fact that I’m working with a recruiter hurt my chances of being selected due to the commission? Curious if anyone else is or has been in the same boat. I started as an assistant at an entertainment law firm prior to passing the bar. Is this normal in the entertainment world? Any suggestions?

Also, I have no idea how these arrangements work. Do you pay the recruiter to look for the jobs or do you pay them when you get the job? Or does the employer pay them?
