I've been job hunting for 5.5 months, attending several interviews. The first two didn't go well due to my lack of experience with the process, as I’ve always been employed since graduation. Now, at 26 with a degree I feel is useless, I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I’ve taken feedback, but it’s still not enough. I feel penalized for my ambition and it’s exhausting—endless rejections with no clear path forward, leaving me frustrated and unsure.

Question about remote job negotiations

I'm currently interviewing for a remote role for a company based in NY.

The thing is I'm based in a different city (southern U.S.)

My question is:

When it comes time to talk compensation, should I base the market rate for the role on my city of residence or NY?

Would it make sense to ask them directly how they determine comp for NY-bases vs. other city-based employees?
