I’ve been thinking a lot about 4-day workweeks lately—especially the kind where you work 10-hour days to earn that extra day off. A few companies I know are trying it, and one of my peers swears it’s life-changing. But personally, after back-to-back meetings and team check-ins, I already feel drained by 5 PM. I wonder if stretching the day to 6 or even 7 PM would really be worth the long weekend—or just shift burnout into a new shape. Would you trade longer days for a consistent 3-day weekend? Or is it just another version of the same hustle?

Longer days for a shorter week? Hard pass. You’re still cramming 40+ hours into fewer days—burnout with a Friday off isn’t balance, it’s just rebranded grind culture.

I get the same story different book thinking, I would love to have a 4 day workweek in exchange for a couple extra hours in the day. I’m already at work, a little longer doesn’t terribly bother me for a whole extra day. I like to think it would give people a little more ease in the day and not jam more in, but that might be wishful thinking.

Hi everyone,
I was working on a function app based on Azure. I am facing an issue while run/test code in function app: internal server error 500. When I checked the logs, it showed Rpc Exception for Microsoft Azure Webjobs Script Workers. Not sure how to make the function app work again. Is it also related to the registered app with Microsoft graph Api which have delegated permissions? Struggling to find a solution.

I just left my pre-seed startup that was running out of cash (we made $100,000 in revenue this year, and sunk $1m in costs). I was making $40,000 as a developer (plus 20k stock options at $1/share per year) and they refused to pay me any more money. I have 17,000 vested stock options, total number of shares at the time of my contract was 4million. I’m a bit confused about share dilution and if it’s worth it for me to buy some of my stock options… thanks in adv!

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the most, how pissed would you be if you were a supervisor and you had a new direct report on your team with a higher salary than you? The years of experience are the same, but you have 3 designations (they have 0), you have 3 licenses (they have just 2), they have little to no experience with technical complex claims (you have hundreds), and you have 3 years in management (they have 0).

One of my top talents just put in his two weeks notice and I had nothing to offer him to stay. I told upper management this was going to happen! I’ve spent months asking for a promotion for him, trying to push his career forward and got no traction. I know i did my best. He knows i tried. I still believe i work at a good place but i feel like we’re losing focus. I feel my boss is leaving soon. It’s a mess.

I have a direct report who is smart, passionate about her job and can be really innovative. However she carries this enormous weight of responsibility, for needing to do everything, do it right, make sure it's perfect, not trusting colleagues to help. It creates dread and panic and overwhelming workload and a terrible attitude for her and I am speaking with her this week to start to shift her mindset. Any tips in navigating how to let go of this heavy idea of "responsibility"?

You're a new manager with direct reports. One of your directs is very determined. You consider yourself a good manager so you want to help them grow. They are killing it and taking on an enormous of workload, and executing flawlessly. Do you let them continue killing it? Ask how they're doing? Or warn/advise them on how to avoid burnout?

Does anyone else just not even want to be a people manager anymore?! The amount of work this is taking, I’m just so over it. In addition to them piling on my work (which is a full time job) the people management stuff is just as much a full time job that no one in management seems to take into account. I have tried countless times to explain this but I end up burnt out, everyone suffers including me. I just left one role bc of it and now this new role, same thing. I’m over it.

In my response, I helped mentor with best practices on how to ask for a raise professionally since I need to make a case to my Head on finances. But their performance has been avg and not seemingly worthy of another large raise within a short period of time. But how do I respond when they talk about personal finances?
