I’ve been trying to retire “just checking in” because it feels like it gives away all my leverage. Lately I’m using a quick update, a relevant proof point, or a concrete next step instead. It keeps the tone confident without being pushy. What wording are you using that actually gets replies right now?

I find this true in a lot of areas. Say what you mean and mean what you say. That goes a long way farther than being vague.

Thanks!

I can see both sides working, as i have done both.

Both can feel hollow though, when that is all you have to say.

In my experience building the relationship, and reaching out with a genuine interest either on your side or on the customer project as a conversation starter is goes the farthest.

Exp 1.
Hey, how is project xxxx going? Did you figure out how to solve the xxx pain point yet?

Or
Exp.2

Hey!
I know you’re working on project xxxxx.
But had xxxxx product just launch and your company came to mind.

Let me know if you want to talk about the new product or if there is anything i can do to help with project xxxx.

Oh these are good ways to remind them you care about their business and remember important objectives.

If I have any of those options available to me and they're relevant to where things stand, I'm fine leading with them. But if not, I don't see anything wrong with "just checking in." If it was me, I'd rather a rep say that than try to manufacture some reason to contact me when we both know exactly what they're doing.

Good point. Thanks!

“We are fully remote”

Me : Awesome so no travel required at all?

“Well you need to come to the office 3 times a week and the other two you will be popping into potential customers on site”

Me: So not remote at all…?

“No we’re remote, you get two days traveling not in the office”

I have 7 years experience in sales. But I am relocating from North Carolina to Massachusetts.

Would anyone happen to know any great companies hiring?

A majority of my experience is in the logistics and logistics technology side of sales. I’ve been working remotely doing over the phone/ zoom demo sales. But I would love the opportunity to service my clients in person!

I left my job about a year ago to relocate, make sure it was the right decision and start a side business in the mean time. Now I’m actively looking for a new sales position, have tons of experience, but am struggling to even get a response from job apps. I am wondering if this is because of my employment gap? I don’t have my side business listed on my resume because I don’t feel like I have enough positive “stats” to report yet given it’s new. Any advice or recommendations?

“Job hopper” and “quiet quitting” are all schemes made up by boomers to make you think everything is the employees fault. When in reality people are just getting out of bad situations. Older companies do whatever they can to pay you the least amount and get the max work out of you. Except our generation will just leave amid we’re being mistreated, not complain for 35 years making 50k and 0 advancement.
