I’ve noticed a weird pattern lately: companies say they want innovative thinkers, out-of-the-box approaches, and fresh perspectives. Then they hire the safest, most traditional candidate every time. I’ve been told I bring unique experience and interesting insights… and then they go with the Ivy League guy with the hedge fund background. It’s making me second-guess how much of my actual perspective I should even bring into interviews. Do you lean into being different or just play it safe to land the offer?

I have been working in SEA region last 4 years. I feel burned out. I have 10yoe, I have try to move to other country but I pretty much suck in LeetCode. They all went really well and HR said I’ll most likely be moving forward to a site visit. But now my contact has ghosted me. After I made 3 outreaches he had his aa schedule time for two weeks out.
