I’ve worked in both, and mom-and-pop or boutique spots definitely have a different vibe, usually more personal and creative, but the pay can be a bit lower than big grocery chains. Sometimes you make it up with tips or cool perks, but it’s more about the experience than the paycheck a lot of the time.
I've worked both. Boutiques pay less most of the time. I'm sure there are some out there that cater to high end clientele and pay more than the average multinational, but I haven't been lucky enough to find one yet.

Same here! I’ve mostly been in chains, but I’ve been curious about smaller, independent stores too. From what I’ve seen, pay can vary a lot..sometimes a bit higher than big chains, but benefits aren’t usually as strong. It really depends on the store!
Mom & Pop is good & some even pay well & offer benefits.
