Hi fishies, welcome to the OHG bowl!
Any Spotify people here? Noticed there’s an AM role going at the moment in the UK but not sure what experience level it is. For reference I’ve got 6 years in ad sales experience with 3 years management (both in music industry). Would this be comfortable or is it worth holding out for AD?

Disney Streaming Services I completed my interview process with DSS early last week, and was reached out by recruiter that all rounds were strong hires, and they are extending an offer. We set a time to talk on Friday about the offer. However, the announcement of targeted hiring freeze happened on Friday. I was ghosted with no call. What should I expect now? Would I still have chance to be offered?
Although Amazon has instituted a hiring freeze and layoffs are probably on their way, I went through the loop for a security engineer position at AWS. Before I attended the final interviews, Amazon placed the hiring freeze and called me to ask if I wanted to go ahead or cancel my application. I decided do go ahead Right now I'm waiting for their response and the position I applied to changed from "under consideration" to "no longer under consideration". Thoughts?

I’ve had roles I checked every box and had my resume tailored to and they turned me down.
I’ve also had roles where I wasn’t even specialized in main tech stack on the role give me a call.
I don’t think there’s an exact science to it.
I've heard recruiters say they never expect everyone to tick off every box, and they admit that a lot of job postings are essentially wish lists. They hope people have all the qualifications, but don't seriously expect someone to walk in who does. If you have most of the qualifications, and it seems like you can pick up what you're missing, you should apply anyway. I mean, do it within reason, you don't want to spam apply if you're really not suited, but if you're in the ballpark it's reasonable to give it a try.

I’ve had enough time in the industry that I sort of know what’s likely to be essential to a role versus a wish list. I don’t usually apply to anything that’s completely unrealistic, but if I’m missing something here or there and it’s a step up and seniority I’m OK with it.
Yeah, you learn what is important and what is kind of optional. I'm fine applying as long as I have at least 85% of the qualifications and the rest, I will figure out along the way.
I apply if I hit 60-70% of the requirements. The job descriptions are wish lists half the time anyway. Might as well take the 5 minutes to submit the application.

If you meet around half to two thirds and can learn the rest quickly, it’s usually worth applying. Skills grow on the job. Potential and problem solving matter just as much.
I was always told if you meet every requirement in a job description, you’re overqualified. Would love to hear a recruiter’s take
