I've worked at my current company for almost 12 years. I like my job, but feel like I'm getting underpaid based on similar roles with other companies. I've applied for a few other positions at other companies but am scared to make the leap. How do I leave a company I've worked at almost my whole adult life and move to a new company seamlessly?

No move is ever seamless. No matter how closely two roles may be aligned, if they're in different organizations some things will just naturally be different. If you get an attractive offer at a new company, just think about what the move will entail and decide if you can handle it. There can be factors like the reputation of the company, the company culture, the commute, and so on.

like

Exactly. Make sure you think things all the way through. The only thing that might be seamless is the compensation, if you time it right.

Just make sure you get yourself ready financially because you don’t wanna leave without another job but get yourself financially set because you never know what can happen.

like

That's right. Don't leave without something lined up or the ability to support yourself for at least a year.

Don’t let fear hold you back. I did that for far too long and I was absolutely miserable. It finally got so bad I was ready to just quit with nothing lined up. Take a leap of faith

Here’s a question for the recruiters out there: do you want to see my portfolio?
I just started freelancing after having been FT for a long time. Top agency experience, Cannes Lions, NYC-based, DM me!

A recruiter from an agency I admire reached out to see if I’m interested in an ACD role. BUT it is for one of their Pharma clients. How can I tell them I’m not interested in that category? I would like to work with them, but on their traditional/consumer brands. I want them to consider me for other opportunities :-/

Hey all, started my role as a recruiter at an agency recently and had my first placement! It was great until the candidate wants to renegotiate the base and benefits after the current company counter-offered when the candidate no longer sees the future. Any tips on what to say to bring back to focus? The current role is a Sr. Acct Receivable (less than 2yr) and going into collections specialist at a global law firm.

Got a 30% salary bump, via an offer for Senior Consultant S&O from Deloitte. Currently underpaid at EY Advisory. I'm MBA and this year is my promotion year at EY for Manager. What to do? Get demoted and move to D? Or counter at EY? Even if EY matches my salary, and promote me to Manager, I will be an EY Manager with a Deloitte SC salary, and probably won't be able to go to D in the future. What do you think? I have built up a good relationship with my Partner and SMs at EY though.

I've done so well in this new role within the company that they are hiring another person to assist with what I do. I've voiced to my boss that I'd like to manage this department and they indicated that this is the thought for the future. Now they are asking me to train this person while I have my plate full. Is it wrong for me to expect either a promotion or to be paid to train this person?

I found a company I was really excited about working at. I applied for the job and went through 5 rounds of interviews. At the end they said I was OVER qualified and they want me for a different position higher up in the company. I was super excited they then had me go through 5 more rounds, 3/5 people were the same. The interviews mostly went "didn't you get the job, I highly recommend you? I'll just put you down as a 10". After those were done they told me I was UNDER qualified. Can't win!
