Good luck with the beginning of the year you awesome 4th grade teachers!! Go get em! You are amazing, intelligent, and flexible. You CAN do this!

What are you finding that is important to your 4th graders right now? I’m finding that just spending an extra few minutes with me one on one -sharing something they have or did during our Google Meets is important. The uninterrupted attention is what my students are craving.

Did any of you hear what Kenya‘s school plans are for this year!? They are canceling the whole year and everyone will start next year in the grade they’re supposed to be in this year.😳

I'm almost done with my master's and right now we are discussing the knowledge gap that happens in 4th grade with our lower-class students. They know or have the skills for how to read (for the most part) but seem not to be able to comprehend what they are reading due to the fact that they don't have background knowledge like their upper-class peers - which is due to life experiences. Have you noticed this in your classes? I have but didn't realize why it was so hard to catch them up.

Even though life/ teaching isn’t normal right now- we still need to provide as much “normality “ for our students as possible. What is the funniest thing that has happened while teaching during hybrid or DL ? Make us smile. 😊

Hey 4th Grade teachers! What are some of the online tools/platforms you used during distance learning that you really liked? We use Schoology as the main platform in our district. I also used Flipgrid and ClassDojo but I heard ClassKick was better. Anyone use this before?

Just wondering we are adopting science curriculum this year, piloting mmh and studies weekly, any thoughts?

Did anyone else adopt the new Florida Wonders curriculum? We just adopted it this school year, and I teach 4th grade. My team and I have not found a good flow, schedule, or whatever you want to call it. We feel like it teaches too many skills in one lesson, and we are not able to truly teach anything “deep” enough for students to master. Does anyone have any insight? What do you do? Do you like the curriculum? Why or why not? Would you be willing to share what you do weekly/daily? Thanks!
