Follow up post to my last post…My husband was laid off from the company where I also work. I am feeling really isolated / depressed about working and moving forward. I’m also getting to a stage where I’m really sad that people haven’t reached out to either my husband or myself to send well wishes or provide support. I'm almost done with my master's and right now we are discussing the knowledge gap that happens in 4th grade with our lower-class students. They know or have the skills for how to read (for the most part) but seem not to be able to comprehend what they are reading due to the fact that they don't have background knowledge like their upper-class peers - which is due to life experiences. Have you noticed this in your classes? I have but didn't realize why it was so hard to catch them up.
