Just had to fire someone today. I feel bad because I did it without warning. However, their work was absolutely horrendous and there was no rehabilitating it.

No one should be fired without warning. You need reviews of their work twice a year.

For what it's worth I got fired and very much deserved it. I was able to turn my life around and although I don't think the experience was necessary I definitely was able to turn into something positive

Also the opportunity really just wasn't for me sometimes people need to pick a different path

You didn’t document or have a track record in their HR file? Rookie mistake

Why wasn’t that documented?

They will now go file unemployment if there was no cause and they will be granted it through NYS. Trust me, I was laid off and that’s exactly what I did until I found new employment.

Hopefully there were write-up’s and this wasn’t his or her only mistake. That’s why firms can’t keep good paralegals and support staff.

Hi. I’m in need of advice and encouragement. I’m currently working as a public defender(2nd year) but I would love to pursue a solo private practice. I would like to leave the public defender because I am ready to make more money and I am no longer feeling the fulfillment I once felt. I have a family and work-life balance is a priority.
