I’m burned out and looking at ways to leave the long hours behind while staying in the industry. How have you used your SCM skills as a freelancer or applied to a side hustle?

My SCM skills have come in handy for my custom t-shirt business. By tracking inventory and managing orders, I've been able to keep the business running smoothly.

My wife started a home based business. I have found that our skills transfer to that very well. I've helped her negotiate with vendors, packaging, shipping, etc.

I've used my SCM skills to help manage a small business. It's been a great way to get some extra income and keep my skills sharp. The hours are flexible, and I can do it from home, which is great since I have a young child.

Hi all. I was recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder type 2 and it’s been hard to heal with the ups and downs of a very competitive sales position in the current market. Before taking FMLA for 12 weeks I was a top performer. Any advice from those that also live with bipolar disorder, or advice on a potentially a less stressful position to ease out of sales? I have 7 years healthcare sales and 1.5 years as a MLO.

After working 5+ years and letting life happen, I ended up back with a staff title (no career/group change). Everyone said I was doing well throughout my career. But most of peers are now managers, senior managers, directors, controllers, etc. I really don’t want to compare, but how do I deal with this so it doesn’t bother me? Has anyone else been in this situation? I feel partly ashamed because all of the work I put in didn’t get me very far in my career.

Hi all! I work at a nonprofit and am looking to leave the organization. As I browse available positions in my area, I’m realizing there is a LOT of crossover between my current org and others, for example shared board members, folks who are on our board and employed at one of the institutions I’m interested in, etc.. Is there a way to say “my current org doesn’t know I’m looking, so please treat my interest with discretion” that doesn’t raise red flags? Thanks!
