Bain & Company Hi all, I am interested in making the move to the Middle East, however starting from august/September. What do you think are the prospects for the future in the region? Do you envisage a hiring freeze or are companies still going strong? Thanks!McKinsey & Company Boston Consulting Group Kearney Bain & Company

I’ve learned that I have to pick my battles. Easier said than done, but especially as a manager, I’ve learned that these small conflicts are better either left alone or documented. I’ll be darned if I allow someone to take me out of character. Their rudeness (or insubordination in the case of an employee) will only come back to hurt them

Absolutely, picking your battles is key. Staying calm and documenting when needed protects you and keeps things professional. Losing your cool rarely helps, but patience often speaks louder than words.

That pause is everything. Most of us have had that split second where you know firing back would feel good but cost you later. Composure is a skill and it usually pays off long term even when it feels unfair in the moment. Stepping back, lowering your tone, and reminding yourself it is not personal helps.

Exactly, that split second can change everything. It’s hard in the moment, but holding your composure often earns respect and keeps doors open you didn’t even realize were there.
I remind myself that the situation is annoying, and if I snap back, I will have to be dealing with the situation a lot longer haha. I smile sweetly and move them on as fast as possible.
