Looking for advice here: 10 years of consulting experience (SM/AP level). Exited to industry ~15 months ago in a role that mixes strategy / M&A, transformation, & value creation type work. How many years before I become a viable / more attractive candidate for PE Ops? Consulting experience was 70%: DD, strategy, value creation, and then 30% finance transformation / accountancy work (have a CPA).

You don’t need more xp. Just need to find the right opportunity and get lucky.

FWIW i recruited for 4 years before landing a MF PE ops role

10 years of MBB + industry? Many would bite your hand off. You are already viable.. time to hit the recruiters and show you’re available

Why do people want to do PE ops so badly?

Because it's fun, it pays a lot of money, and provides great C-Level exits

You probably have the high level experience to have interest in your resume. What's left is to find a firm that values it which is probably one that focuses on the specific industry you have experience in. Ideally you're a VP, EVP, or C-Suite given your yoe. By the time you land an offer you may be at the 2-3 year mark in your current job which should give you a decent track record of measurable impact

You have enough experience. Now is time to recruit hard. It will take some time to find an opportunity

Anyone know the best recruiters? Is it the same that are best for investment seats?

Different recruiters. Very fragmented.

All helpful perspective thanks!

At what point does the value of a degree fall off? I'm in my early 30s, and have five years of experience, and work on a very theoretically interesting project. I believe I'm on track to promotion in the next year. So, I could put in a year of full time school to check the box off, but I'd be sacrificing hobbies and social life (not to mention cost). Is this FOMO or is there real opportunity here?

Does anyone feel like they’re selling themselves short by working in government? I graduated from a regional law school in 2018 and clerked for 2 years before moving into a GS-13 agency counsel role in DC back in October 2020. I love the work, and I love the work-life balance even more (I rarely work more than 45 hours per week, and almost never on the weekends). I’m 29, no kids, and no real responsibilities outside my student loans. (Continued below)…

How did current in-house attorneys find their positions? I am currently in big law with 3 years of experience. Seems that most recruiters can only help me lateral to other big law firms.

I had to rescind my acceptance to an offer at EY back in April because I had a medical issue present for a surgery and I didn’t want to complicate things with time off and changes in insurance and such since it was a scary process in and of itself. I’m healing faster than expected now though, and EY said to reach out if things change but that’s probably standard language. Is it likely that I could get them to re-send an offer? I still see postings for the role online.

Benefits to scrum or PMP certifications as a low level Associate? All the positions I see require 5+ years scrum experience. Also would appreciate people’s perspectives on scrum vs PMP in general. I’m a people person and quite good at leadership so I feel my talents are being wasted managing client direction on funds day to day.

Hi HR Professionals! I am revising our current employment application form. Per SHRM, I was just curious if any HR Professionals completely removed the following fields: social security number, recommend salary, graduation dates, military discharge info, race, maiden name like (Ms. Mrs. Ms), & criminal history questions. I was just curious what other Employers/HR Professional have done. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I was approached by an external recruiter about Houlihan Lokey TAS at a senior level (SVP / Director). No specific comp ranges discussed yet, but I hear bonuses are massive. Not sure if anyone has insights at that level as most posts are for analyst / associates - thoughts?

Also hearing about a lot of turnover at senior levels - for people who work there, what's the story? Is it a leadership problem or just limited to offices?
