Looking for advice. I recently got a job in consumer defense but my dream is to work in labor and employment (defense side). I recently got a job offer for plaintiff side work with no billable hours requirement but its a $18k pay cut.

Should I take it?

I'm worried that this will set me back financially and I'm not sure the role will set me up to get to where I ultimately want to go but I'm a new-ish attorney so I'm not sure if my concerns are valid.

If it won’t set you up for where you want to go to, I wouldn’t take it. Even in consumer defense, you’re learning litigation. If you join the plaintiff side, it might be hard to eventually join the defense side

FWIW I am an at an L&E defense firm and I think we are quicker to hire someone with plaintiffs-side L&E experience over someone with no L&E experience

Fair point!

I agree, go with consumer defense and learn litigation. Take CLE’s and network like crazy to get that l & e job.

Hi Fishes, I am a Talend ETL developer with 2.2 yrs of exp at TCS. But I have not learned that much in the current project I am in, it's all migration and excels now😅. So, now I want to shift to a product based startup or mid level company in React JS technology for which I have already started preparation separately. Also thinking of giving resignation as my current project is affecting my mental state. Please give me insights on this as to how I should proceed and how to prepare.

We have a vaccine proof or (-) test policy for our office, we are mostly still remote. Is anyone dropping those requirements as our provincial governments also drop vac certificate regulations and other protections? I feel that our duty to keep employees safe at work means we should keep our policy in tact. (Masking is still required in all indoor spaces so that won’t change)
