And just for context, I'm currently working as an engagement Manager for a non profit. I don't see myself staying as the job pays on the lowest end of the spectrum and has zero benefits. Myself and my peers are also more like sales people and spent a week training on pitches and mission statements which was not what I expected. Also, I operate 100% remote which I do not prefer any longer.
That's my plan for now. I'm also concentrating on companies with a known name rather than blanketing applications like I was before.
What would you all say in my situation when interviewing with the next employer? I'm concerned about how honest I should be. I don't want to bad mouth my current job but I feel like if I'm not honest, that may leave room for some misunderstanding. I took my current job because it was my only option, can I mention that ?
If the new job is not relevant to recruiter, then skip mentioning it. But looking unemployed longer is also a perceived risk but at least you avoid the lengthy explanation.
