Have any US 🐠 gone abroad for their MBA? Looking at LBS / HEC. Pros, cons? Not looking to exit into MBB, FAANG.

US citizen, went to LBS, exited to Google. Pros: Punches at M7 tier in the US (if you have a US right to work) Offers a truly diverse student body experience in ways no US school can match (you’ll have a network that spans the globe) Great balance of course work load and extra curricular and social offerings Cheapest and most available point to travel from to anywhere in the EU Cons: Only the people that ‘matter’ in your career will know LBS in the US - Honestly your friends and parents will likely mistake it for LSE If you’re recruiting for the US, you’ll miss out on on campus recruiting for US offices - though companies will simply route your resume to the US offices (or any office you choose). Recruiting in the US starts MUCH earlier than abroad - like before courses start. Be ready to be in recruiting mode when your classmates are not.

Much lower, especially given how much the pound is valued now relative to the dollar. But benefits and the social safety net is far stronger in UK/Europe than in the US. For example, 25 days of holiday (PTO) is the legal minimum. We get 30 at my firm. And you're actually expected to take it all.

HEC is great but it is in the middle of freaking nowhere.

Truly. I’d also argue the quality is meh. I studied abroad there from an M7 program in the US. Very different vibe.

What did all on costs look like? Scholarships?

Is MBB (mostly thinking about McKinsey) really that bad in terms of WLB? I feel like people tend to exaggerate things sometimes - i was told i'd be working approximately 65h at Deloitte in Tech Strategy and honestly that barely ever happened. I wasn't considering switching since I love my job and my team, but many people are telling me I shouldn't "waste" my potential at Deloitte (whatever that means...). They kind of got to me and now i'm looking for more info about the culture/work at MBB.

Someone in my group just jumped from Accenture as a senior analyst to Deloitte as a SC. I’m currently a C at Accenture but really tempted to make the jump and reach for SC or M. I know I’ll get paid more and do the same shit. Currently at 120k and I spoke to a SC at Deloitte that has the same position and they make 160k. I like the people here and the culture here though. But at the same time I want my next move to be out of consulting. Still worth it to make the move?

Hi team, I did my mba in 2019 Was in an IT Company in presales profile and now joining KPMG finance transformation roles. Designation - associate consultant. Joining in September end. Is there any chance I can make for promotion by next yr to consultant. The associate consultant designation will put me behind 2019 batch mates (at par with 2020 batch) . I already have 2.5 yrs post mba work ex. Do let me know. Want to understand if i am making the right offer or should I reject it.

I’m a second year associate with a split lit/transactional practice interviewing (second round) for an in house position this week. Interview is with the general counsel. Any interview tips? Wondering what questions I should make sure to ask and what skills to highlight given it’s a more entry level in house position and they know I’m coming from firm experience. Thanks in advance!

Discussion post: I feel almost all consulting firms are the same. Mbb, big 4 etc. if you are paid enough there is probably less wlb. If there is good wlb there is not much money. Can you single out a company that you can confidently say pays very well and also has good wlb and also has good opportunities etc.?

Can somebody please explain to me why MBB and other top consulting firms are so adamant that you have an MBA? I majored in accounting, finance, and operations management at a top 10 undergrad business school and then got my masters in information systems from the grad school program. I took multiple MBA courses as electives when getting my masters and it seemed like those classes were very basic and easy. Idk if I would learn anything in an MBA program that I hadn’t already learned in undergrad
