Looking for recs!
Want a watch with a really good looking movement / exhibition case back for under $2k. Ok with either a microbrand or big company. Ideally micro rotor or manual to not hide any of the movement - won’t be a daily wear so less concerned with auto.
Was thinking Baltic MR01 salmon dial, but know there’s so many good options…

The Baltic seems like your best bet. Yema makes a tv screen case micro rotor too for under 2k but I feel like I'm always in the minority for liking that shape. Plus the Baltic movement is prettier to my eye.

Thanks - yea Yema has been making some great stuff too. Love their integrated bracelet model might bring it into the decision

I’m not sure how you define “really good looking movement/exhibition case” or why this is important considering it rests on your wrist.

Are there any other things you’re optimizing for aside from price? like dial, color, materials etc

I would agree with the above - skeleton is probably your best bet, thought at 2k if you’re interested in seeing the movement, you’re not going to get elaborate decorations or any extreme engineering. At your price point, Mido, Bulova and Tissot make few nice skeleton watches. Chinese brands like Agelocer do skeleton watches at affordable prices esp. their tourbillion (though I can’t speak to quality)

You can also go away from name brands towards something like this, thought slightly above your range: https://zerootime.com/en-global/collections/zeroo-t

If you like the style of Zenith (who I think make the best legible skeleton style watches), then consider Edox: https://www.jomashop.com/edox-delfin-mecano-automatic-skeleton-dial-mens-watch-85303-3nm-nbg.html

Baltic or nomos

No, but OP said either micro rotor or manual wind

Zelos Comet is what scratched the itch for me. I don't like the date on a manual wind, but $600 was a price I could live with for a fun one I don't wear that often. They should pop up used pretty regularly. Anything with a really nice movement is going to be pricey.

Is it wise to go to my company’s competitor for a promotion and risk burning a bridge?

For context, my small company was suddenly bought out by a large corp. I was about to get promoted to leadership but the new company doesn’t want to honor the title/salary increase we worked out. We only have one significant competitor in our industry, and it’s likely my best option. Love my company, been with them for years, but I’m really struggling with how frustrating this situation is.

Industry vets - in your experience how recession proof is insurance? I was not yet in the job market last recession but I watched my mom get laid off and struggle to find employment during that time for the next 1.5 years. I was wanting to hit the job market towards the end of this year, but now I worry that if I do move companies, the recession could put me in position of last one hired first one fired. Is it better to stay put?

Hello lovely people. I need your recommendation. I have decided to reward myself for my accomplishments (paying student loans, supporting parents, past promo’s etc) by buying my 1st luxury watch on my 30th this year. Budget 10-12k.

What would you recommend me to get? I was thinking a two tone Datejust or a pair like (omega/Cartier/JJL)

Really excited to hear your recs! Thank you! 😊

What’s the best thing I could buy for my old man’s birthday for about $10k? Would go Rolex (since he knows Rolex) but would prefer new, which limits my options there. Looking for something a little sporty, with a bracelet, and waterproof (100m should suffice). Nothing bombastic like a Panerai, but something a little more exciting than say a Datejust? And not Grand Seiko - he’s gonna think it’s like $50 and lose it :(
