How do you survive on a PhD stipend knowing it’ll be years before you can afford luxuries like a vacation or brand-name ice cream?

I’m at 7.5 years of experience and got an offer letter saying 3 weeks of vacation. I’m currently at 5 weeks vacation - are companies typically flexible with this?

Do you find yourself thinking about ways to improve your lessons as you experience life? I’m on vacation for the first time in 10 years and I keep asking myself “wow, what kind of technology is that?” And “How can I integrate that in my Computer Technology class?”

Anyone hiring those who have been out of work for a year? I took time off to tend to personal matters, but I am now looking to get back into the workforce again. My previous experience includes time at B4 audit up to senior level and then transitioned to manager in industry. Senior/manager roles are preferred.

I don’t mind audit. However, I’d prefer it not to be at a B4, as I am looking for some semblance of a work life balance.

I have been working in SEA region last 4 years. I feel burned out. I have 10yoe, I have try to move to other country but I pretty much suck in LeetCode. Should I quit to my current manager(5th so far) or wait after mid year performance review, when a new boss will take over my team? I'm thinking on giving them 2 months notice period. I’m in a little of a pickle but a good one. Offer A. Established “start up” doing well financially and projected to hit profitability. 130k base. Stocks offered, unlimited PTO, and 70% Medical covered. Offer B. Is at a business much larger…90k salary with 10% bonus and generous stock offering. Titles are different which is why the pay is much different. I know some may think it is a no brainer but offer A allows me to grow the department ground up whereas offer B id be apart of to just different

A parent of one of my students told admin she thinks it's irresponsible that I won't be grading over Christmas break.
